Dilemma 1073 for Tim Leyshan... How do I get paid to do the most important thing in my life. I have traveled the world successfully for nearly 7 years on and off. I have lived in 3 countries other than my home and travelled through 40 countries inclusive. My plan in life is to have traveled 100 countries before I am 30 and perhaps have completed 150 countries before I die. I would say 195 but I think there is a good percentage I just never will... But in saying that, I HAVE SURPRISED myself by visiting places I never thought I would.
I get easily inspired by people that have the same passion for life and travel as I do. I have recently met amazing people that have blown my measly 40 countries out of the water. Which is frustrating but also gives me more drive to continue learning and breaking down those cultural barriers within the world and path the way for more stories to be written of adventure, natural beauty and inspirational moments in life. I dreamt for a long time when I was just starting out traveling to one day being a successful Travel host on discovery channel or Great Outdoors or something similar. Unfortunately that still hasn't come about, but you just never know right. If I may one day talk to the right person who doesn't see me as just a... errr stripper... Because lately I have been meeting people here in Canada wanting to know if I can join their 'male review' group for hens nights etc. I find it very bizarre, so long as I can convince people that I may do better hosting a TV program about lifestyle on the road rather than awkwardly maneuvering myself around a pole like a horse attempting the tango with its legs tied together, then I could be onto something.
It is very strange how things come up in life and what can come of opportunities if only you keep your eyes open. I am still looking for this BIG break but with persistence, networking and a little bit of luck I think there could be an opportunity out there to really take on a challenge like this. I don't see myself as a travel writer because I can't write, therefore I think I will stick with utilizing what I was born good at and that my friends is talking...
So, I will let you all know if this illusive job comes about, but please don't WATCH THIS SPACE for extended periods of time, you may get square eyes, because finding that dream job wont happen over night.... or will it... muhhahahaha!!!

Rate Me 101
When thinking of an idea originally, how to get paid to travel. I had ideas flittering through my mind like shards of broken glass after an explosion... Nothing came together as a complete idea... But when you allow your idea to be hear and throw it into a mixing bowl of other ideas with other minds thinking in a relative sequential pattern, you begin to realize there may actually be something there.
As mentioned in earlier posts, I have been having some ideas in which I feel there is no better time in my life then to actually bite the bullet and perhaps jump on the loose ball. Because you just never know if that ball will lead you to another goal. So, here i my way of thinking, with this plan in mind sourcing all ideas to create a streamlined online travel tool that will allow anyone the opportunity to view and utilize within their business. The idea is still growing, as I am aware of the competition at this point, but I am also needing a reputation. Now... a reputation these days is a difficult thing to gain. In order to gain reputation, you need to be exposed to a lot of people and have a lot of people know who you are and have tried and tested results in the product or service you are supplying, presenting offering and so on.
In the strange 'world of Tim'... I came up with another idea which I hope to start off as more of an online blog which will act as a social network, reference portal and a key element in building a reputation for myself with trusted reviews. Vancouver is a Mecca for restaurants, bars, lounges, clubs etc. You name it, you will find what you need within a 10 mile radius of downtown vancouver alone. I want to start a group of individuals of all different backgrounds that will visit a new restaurant once a week and provide a review of the food, atmosphere, location, service etc. In hopes to either expose hidden gems or to assist the restaurants in a constructive manner to work on key areas that may not be working for them. With 7 years of experience in the Hospitality industry, combined with a team of similar experiences individuals, ranging from chefs to business owners, hairdressers to makeup artists the diversity with be unique but well informed and trusted. I love food and wine, and what a great way to combine them then to eat and then share this with the world. To me, good food is like traveling the world. When you taste something amazing, you want to tell everyone you know about how good it was. It builds a hunger to continue seeking more and more and with this hunger grows knowledge and understanding.
Once again, the idea is in infant stages and I would love for people to share ideas with me in hopes to make this project a big success...

New Year, new direction...
People always ask you what your new years resolution will be... I didn't think I had one, until I had a complete brain explosion I would like to almost refer to it as an epiphany which shone down from above like a beacon from the heavens.
I could almost hear the sound of a voice calling my name, and telling me ' Tim, this year is your year to take charge and make a difference'. It was actually a commercial I overheard about some bank account package, but thats aside the point people, something was telling me this is my year, and you know what, I refuse to ignore it. I am continuing with my belief of positive mind, positive behavior creates positive outcomes. Proactive steps with a positive optimistic mind create positive results. If I keep telling myself this, then perhaps something might happen.
I am in the process now, working very hard finally at the Bar I mentioned a few weeks back 'the red square'. Okay so here is my story so far... I work at the bar at the moment about 5 days per week which is fine by me. I have since been hired by 2 other places and offered casual work with a third party company so thats 4 jobs. In the space of 2 weeks mind you, from nothing.. and I mean I had to borrow money to move into my apartment, I was living off noodles and coffee for 2 weeks poor. But now, I am earning good tips and keeping above float. Today I had positive news from the owner of my bar, wanting to offer me a management position, which would be great for me to partake in to further gain management skills, earn more money and also have the chance to learn a thing or two about running a business. This said, leads me into my next idea, which remembering my epiphany moment earlier, I realized I am ready and no better time in my life to start a business of my own in the coming year. Why not?? I am surrounding myself with knowledgeable, successful entrepreneurs learning the tricks of the trade in hopes that I could bring my own idea into a business idea and allow a love of mine to make money for me as well.
I am in the process of building a business plan and getting prepared to run it by some people that may be able to help me in the right direction and offer advice, and possibly provide connections to future partners. The idea is at fetal stage but I am adding growth hormones and water and waiting to see what happens when I bring a little light to it. I got my knickers in a knot, forgot what I am capable of and it just needed a little pick me up my go go juice to make me realize that I am capable of doing great things provided I stay positive, keep the doors open and take risks... Because in the end, if you don't take the risk, push the envelope, or open that door, you won't know what is on the other side... Watch this space people....
